Phnom Penh Capital Hall Calls on NagaWorld Workers to Stop Strikes

PHNOM PENH: Phnom Penh Capital Hall issued a press release on Tuesday stating the outcomes of the NagaWorld Labor Dispute Resolution Meeting, which included the main point of action to request the NagaWorld Workers’s Labor Rights Union to prepare a list of all the workers who wish to receive compensation, and those who wish to return to work. Capital Hall is requesting that this list be made so that they can mediate with the company, find a resolution to the ongoing dispute.

Phnom Penh Capital Hall also decided that NagaWorld should take the list of workers to verify their registration with the Ministry of Labor, and on the side of the worker’s union, they should publish a decision to stop the strikes and give the competent ministries and institutions time to mediate and make settlements.

The NagaWorld worker's protest rally began on Saturday, 18 December, and has so far lasted for four days. The worker’s union has accused the company of violating labor rights by laying off more than 1,300 employees this year. Additionally, more than 300 workers have refused to accept compensation packages offered by the company. NagaWorld, in turn, has accused the workers of engaging in illegal protests.
